Starting this October, I will host a series of interactive talk on marine ecology and economy in the Bay of Bengal region. The monthly series of talks will be delivered by experienced professionals and cover the human dimensions of future marine conservation and blue economy activities.
The American Center
ULAB-Sussex Center for Critical and Qualitative Studies
Media partner: Future Startup
Venue: The American Center
U.S. Embassy Annex, J Block, Progati Sharani, Baridhara, Dhaka
Major Topics: Transboundary issues of coastal and nearshore areas in the Bay of Bengal’s Large Marine Ecosystem (BOBLME); sustainable fisheries and other blue economy sectors; climate resilience of communities and businesses; ocean literacy; and workforce development for community-led conservation.
The talks will follow a typical curated interactive talk format; in each event, two speakers will present their talk and then engage in a facilitated conversation with the audience.
Based on the discussions of each event, an e-book will be prepared and made available for the public. We expect that, as a result of this talks, conservation professionals and social-entrepreneurs of Bay of Bengal countries will have access to more shared experience and knowledge on resilience and sustainability issues.
Participation: If you are working in marine conservation and blue economy sectors or have a genuine interest in related topics, you are welcome to participate. Remote participants will have the opportunity to join in via video link. Participation in the talks is by invitation only.
